Drinking through a straw is very appealing especially to children. Paper straws are a great way to reduce plastic in households. Why use them at home?

The benefits of paper straws

At first, paper straws seemed like a very abstract concept – after all, paper absorbs water and becomes soft. However, paper straws are made of thicker paper that is properly sealed and therefore does not absorb water.

What are the advantages of paper straws?

The biggest advantage of paper straws is that they are eco-friendly, i.e. biodegradable. If you throw a paper straw into the grass, it will start to decompose within 3 days.

Another advantage of paper straws is that they reduce the amount of plastic straws that are harmful to the planet. Every year 500 million straws are used in the US – enough to fill 46,000 buses. Plastic straws can take up to 200 years to decompose in a landfill.
