Home recipes for syrup for immunity

Everyone has probably heard about the beneficial effects of garlic, onion or ginger on our health and immunity. We have gathered proven recipes for syrups which are worth preparing in autumn and spring, when we experience weakness or the first signs of cold or flu

Onion-ginger syrup

This is probably the most popular syrup for immunity. It primarily has a warming effect and strengthens the immune system. It soothes coughs, has antibacterial and antiviral effects. The ingredients are rich in antioxidants (including vitamin C and polyphenols), naturally removing free radicals. For even better prevention of infections, a bit of fresh or ground turmeric can be added to the syrup for a warming effect. Onion-ginger syrup is great for children because of the sweet taste of honey

Ingredients:

  • 3 medium-sized garlic cloves,
  • 2 onions,
  • 1 lemon,
  • 2 tablespoons honey,
  • approx. 6 cm of ginger root.

Cut the onion and ginger into thin slices, squeeze the garlic through a press, peel the lemon and cut into pieces. Arrange the ingredients in layers in the jar, alternating with a little honey. At the end of the whole thing gently knead and seal the jar. Leave for several hours. After some time, a syrup will form, which is worth drinking two teaspoons two or even three times a day

Horseradish and honey syrup

Although some people are not fond of horseradish, you can not deny it many valuable properties for our body. In addition to strengthening the immune system, syrup prepared according to the following recipe also has an anti-rheumatic effect, disinfecting and improving digestion. It is great for congested sinuses or an irritated throat.

Ingredients:

  • horseradish root,
  • honey,
  • lemon,
  • water.

Pour a glass of boiled water at room temperature over freshly grated horseradish root and add squeezed lemon juice. Set the mixture aside for an hour, and then strain it. To the remaining water add a few tablespoons of honey (to taste). The whole mix thoroughly and pour into a bottle. Syrup take 3 times a day after 1 teaspoon.

Beetroot and honey syrup

The beet syrup helps to maintain the acid-base balance in the organism, strengthens the circulatory system, supports the immunity. In addition, it quickly brings relief during a dry cough, reduces the unpleasant feeling of a scratchy throat and slows the development of infections. It is worth mentioning that children willingly drink this syrup due to its delicate and sweetish taste.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large beets (preferably oblong, they have a milder taste),
  • honey or sugar.

Beets should be thoroughly rinsed and cleaned, but left with the skin. From the root cut cone-shaped holes (be careful not to pierce the skin) and put sugar or honey into them. Place the beets prepared this way in a preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes, until no thick juice forms in the hollowed out pockets. Thus formed syrup can be poured into a bottle and drink 2-3 times a day after 1 teaspoon

Cranberry and garlic syrup

Cranberries help with throat conditions such as tonsillitis and angina. Garlic destroys bacteria, viruses and other pathogens such as fungi and yeast

Ingredients

  • 500 g fresh cranberries,
  • 500 g honey,
  • 1 bulb of garlic.

Wash and dry the cranberries, peel and finely chop the garlic. Grind the ingredients or put them in a blender. Then add honey (can be a little more or less, depending on your preference). Transfer to a glass bottle. The syrup is also worth drinking preventively in the fall to strengthen immunity. Just 1 teaspoon a day is enough

To extend the shelf life of all syrups, it is worth keeping them in the refrigerator. Then you can take them safely for 7-10 days from the day of preparation.
